Safety Training Manager Cleveland, OH

Burns Industrial Equipment, a 48-year-old, family-owned company is a leader in material handling equipment sales and service. Our commitment to helping our customers keep their employees, equipment, and facilities safe is extremely important. We are dedicated to providing first-rate OSHA-aligned courses for forklift certification training, forklift “Train the Trainer” certification, and aerial work platform certification training. We are looking for an experienced forklift and aerial equipment trainer who is enthusiastic about helping our customers learn how to safely and skillfully operate equipment from Hyster, Yale, JCB, Genie, JLG and more. The newly-hired employee will go through an extensive on-the-job training process and job shadowing program.

Job Description:

  • Conducts training sessions at the customer's site, or training offered at Burns Industrial Equipment, train customer's employees on required safety training programs and other safety training as necessary. Provide detailed curriculum regarding forklift and aerial lift safety to fulfill OSHA requirements for new operator certification, and required 3-year re-evaluation certification. Training class size may range from (1-15) operators..
  • Provides expertise on safety training requirements based on ANSI and OSHA requirements.
  • Conducts certification training to equipment operators; courses include but are not limited to Forklifts and Aerial Lifts. Conducts and coordinates instructor and operator training for customer's employees; courses include but are not limited to Forklift Certification Class I-V + All Attachments, Forklift “Train the Trainer” Certification, Aerial Work Platform Operator Certification. All training is based on the latest ANSI and OSHA training requirements.
  • Works with our sales and operations functions to support the customer-facing safety requirements and meet with customers to actively communicate programs and progress of objectives. Proposes customized training packages based on the unique needs of each customer.

Job requirements:

Possess a strong understanding of environmental health and safety subjects

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Strong Organizational Skills

Excellent interpersonal skills

Safety experience or formal safety education preferred

Technical Skills (Familiar with ANSI and OSHA Regulations referencing Forklifts, Telehandlers, and MEWPS)

Must be a strong team player with the ability to organize, prioritize, handle time constraints and manage shifting priorities. Demonstrated mastery of Sales skills such as selling value over price and selling the value of training to potential customers.

Basic skills in Microsoft Office suite required

Valid driver's license is required

Company vehicle with generous fuel allowance is provided with paid turnpike tolls.

A company laptop, cell phone, and all training materials are provided.

Travel approximately 70% of the time (not to exceed 2 hours one way from home or office.)

Training Territory (covering 21 counties in NE Ohio, and Western Pennsylvania)

May need to lift over 20 lbs. at time

Service Technician Position Pittsburgh, PA

Troubleshoots mechanical and electrical equipment and performs repairs and schedules maintenance work based on customer needs and requirements.

Reports to: Service Manager

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Promotes an atmosphere of goodwill and accountability between the company and the customer. Acts in a professional manner and provides a superior level of customer service and satisfaction.
  • Expertly analyzes and diagnoses customer equipment problems and breakdowns. Recommends the correct service repair actions to resolve equipment performance problems.
  • Makes appropriate equipment repairs and modifications to solve operating and performance problems dictated by the analysis of the customer's equipment.
  • Efficiently performs scheduled equipment maintenance per customer contract.
  • Accurately and neatly documents each service call, providing the necessary paperwork.
  • Observes all safety procedures, makes certain that hazardous waste is properly disposed of.
  • Cooperatively performs additional duties when assigned by Service Management
  • Other duties as assigned by management


Skills Required:

  • Effectively communicate with customers, co-workers and management.
  • Troubleshooting, uploading and downloading of VMS software.
  • Has a strong mechanical, electrical and technical aptitude.
  • Has the ability to understand the necessary service and training manuals, including the ability to interpret schematics and effectively use electrical diagnostic equipment.
  • Keep pace with industry innovations in order to make sound recommendations to customers.
